Have you ever been so hurt and acted by the past that you were unable to move on? You buried your emotions so deep that you cannot have a fully functioning relationship because you never moved on? What happens when your past and present collide? Cal has suffered from all of the above and his journey of lust, heartbreak, and self-discovery was so heartwarming. Even though I found Cal to be a bit of a whiny emotional mess sometimes, the ending was pure comedic gold! The last 15% of this book will have you rolling in tears and laughter!

I gobbled this story up in under 24 hours! It was the perfect breeze read and I felt like it ended in the best way. As I was reading, I thought to myself “how will the author pull this ending off” and most of all would it work. I’m here to tell you, yes, it worked very well.
A Family Affair was an engaging read. I enjoyed the plot and the characters, all of whom came across as well-rounded figures. The story included a mix of emotion and humour, and I was always keen to keep turning the pages, to find out what would happen next. There are instances of infidelity in this book, but the tale ends on a positive note. A fun, quick read.
Cal comes home for the holidays to meet his sisters new beau, only to find he is already intimately acquainted with him. His ex stands there and they treat one another like strangers. Can he even call him an ex?
Andrew has been the one that got away. The one who broke his heart. He has tried to move on, but failed miserably. Now with someone new on the horizon he is not even sure to pursue it since Andrew is back in his life. This was such a reality check. I loved the way it was handled. I also love the author telling the story as it would have happened in real time. I can only hope we get to see it on a big screen someday. A Family Affair is an addictive romance by Rob Loveless. From the start, this one grabbed onto me and I couldn't put it down.
It's a story of anger and confusion, unrequited love and regrets, and so much more. All told from Cal's POV, I was fully brought into Cal's thoughts and feelings, completely engrossed by his plight. OMG, I was so angry for him and on his behalf. With glimpses into the past, the reader easily feels for Cal as he's unable to let go of the past, still stuck with a whole lot of "what ifs." And then, then there's the twists and turns. I have no clue what to say about this book. It went in a direction I didn't like. And then, then I liked it again. I almost put it down, thinking it was going a way I didn't way, but I am glad I didn't. Basically, be prepared for a rollercoaster of emotions. This Rob Loveless read is one of character growth and family issues. |
